The Edge Southampton

		DJ Tim Sandford Playing at The Edge on various Saturdays throughout each month. Style of music: The Edge - Funky House and Upbeat Vocal Dance. The Box - Pop, Cheese, RnB and Indie. Resident at: The Edge, Southampton History: It all began at university in Manchester, when my housemate bought some vinyl decks but didn’t know how to DJ. We taught ourselves, mixing mainly trance records (not very well) until the whole beat-matching and cue thing finally fell into place and I learned how to listen to two things at once. When I moved to Southampton I bought some CD decks off a mate and carried on practicing and teaching myself how to mix pop and RnB songs. I got the gig at the Edge playing pop and cheese on student nights on Wednesdays. From there I moved to Fridays and now Saturdays! I like mixing funky house because you can keep it building, but I also like playing pop upstairs because you can surprise people by playing something they all recognise but never thought they’d hear in a club!
